Within the context of the film, however, Rick comes across like a jerk in dire need of a tune-up, which doesn't seem appropriate at this stage in the production. Despite lots of money being plunged into the special effects, it turns out that they didnt get it quite right in the final cut. Before they do so, they mark her chest with a red dot. In others, she has blue eyes. The strings on the instrument are synthetic, but during that period of history, they would have been made with natural materials. Considering this film is meant to be set in 1936, there is just no way someone would be wearing that outfit back then. This 2012 movie was nominated for the Best Visual Effects Category, and its these little tricks that made it stand out. The only problem is that you can see this seat in the final cut. That doesnt mean its completely issue-free, though. In the next shot, the swords have disappeared again. But if hes not a human, why does Haley Joel Osment have a scrape on his knee? When Cliff is driving the Caddie, just before he sees Pussycat for the third time and picks her up, the speedometer on the car can clearly be seen at zero despite the fact he's driving down the road, revealing the process shot. Its never easy to film scenes in cars, as you cant always just stick a camera on the bonnet and ask the actors to drive down a road. Back to the drawing board, guys.
